MY LIFE

PDA: Keep it out of school, please

On a regular basis, I am relatively comfortable in school. You don’t bother me, and I don’t bother you. There are very few things that will push my buttons in schools. I get shoved occasionally in the crowded hallways between passing periods, but I brush that off. People cut in front of me at lunch sometimes and I usually don’t mind that too much, since I’m going to get my food eventually. If someone’s THAT hungry, I wouldn’t want to keep them waiting to get their soggy nachos and greasy pizza.

However, there is one thing that truly bothers me: PDA. I can handle kissing at school, but when it transforms into full on wrestling matches with your mouth, I would rather not see that. There is one couple in particular at school that always makes out near my lunch table at school.

I can handle eating my sandwich with their occasional kisses, but more often that not, their kisses are just too intense for a school setting.

Seriously, if you would not do that in front of your parents, why would you do that in a cafeteria full of students and teachers? I don’t want to sound patronizing, but unfortunately, the world is a judgmental place. If you are making out all the time at school, people are not going to respect you. It’s not just me saying that. It’s reality.

There are plenty of times to have fun with your boyfriend and girlfriend, but keep it out of a school setting. You don’t want people to think of you as “that girl” or “that guy” and constantly picturing your public tongue battles. You want them to say, “Hey, she’s good at soccer,” or “He’s a good dancer.”

So next time you decide to make out for five minutes in school, consider waiting until school’s out and a little more privacy is ensured.
